Company Object Automation will allow you to associate the companies with the contacts that you have on your LANA account. This will give user to repurpose the business details field for the company.

How to start the migration/use the Company Object Automation

To start the migration and enable Company Object Automation, follow the instruction below:

  1. Go to Setting
  2. Select Company

  3. Enable the Create & Associate companies with contacts option
  4. Prompt will appear that says Create company records for existing contacts.
  5. Select Yes.

  6. After selecting Yes, confirmation that migration is now running

Once completing this process all contacts that have their Business Name field filled out in the General Info Section of their contact page will be added to a Company with the same name as the Business Name.

Note:  If a company of that name does not exist, one will be created for them.

If the fields under the Contact General Info is filled out then it would automatically mapped to Company section.

Fields that can be mapped to the Company section are:

  • Business Name
  • Street Address
  • City
  • Country
  • Postal Code
  • Website

Situations need to be considered:

SituationAction
Business Name is unique and present in single contact
Creates new company and contact will be associated with the company
Business name and its details are similar in multiple contacts

Creates new company and all contact will be associated to the newly created company
Business name is the same in multiple contact but its details vary between contacts
Creates new company and all contact will be associated to the newly created company

Condition:  Address, City, Country, State, Zip and Website will be considered for the latest contact created.

Limitations and Expected Behavior:

What is the Unique Identifier during migration?

Business Name field is the Unique Identifier.

Is Business Name Case Sensitive?

Case Sensitivity is not an issue but Spacing and Spelling are deciding factors.

Who have permission to do the migration?

Only admin user (agency & sub-account). Users with User Role will still see the setting, they just would not be able to do anything to it.

Does it automatically sync the information if there's a new contact?

Once the automation settings are turned on, it will migrate all the existing contacts  with business name. Once the migration is completed, it will automatically sync new contacts with business name field value.

Contact has a company associated with it already

It will not migrate to a different company The migration for existing contacts can only happen if the contact doesn’t have any association with a company.

What if the automation was turned off during the migration?

If the settings are turned off in between existing contact migration and restarted, it will start the migration process from where it stopped and complete for the remaining contacts.

Does it have backward compatibility?

This process doesn’t have backward compatibility. Once a company is created based on the business name, any change in the company name or its details doesn’t reflect back on the Business Name field and other synced fields in the contact's General Info.
